Carmen and Trey: St Ephrem Syriac Church Jacksonville

I first met Carmen when she did my makeup (and the other members of the wedding party) for a friend’s wedding. She did a great job and we chatted about her own wedding plans (having been recently engaged herself.) I could tell her wedding mixing orthodox Assyrian culture with western tradition, was going to be a lot of fun. We later met with her and Trey and found out they loved music (check out their engagement session here), food and modern vintage photography. We knew instantly we were a perfect fit! They even invited us over for dinner to finalize plans a few weeks before the wedding. Trey (a chef at Marker32) cooked us some delicious concoction of pulled pork, penne pasta and peppers and a salad of mixed greens, homemade balsamic dressing and roasted pumpkin seeds (yes, he roasted them himself.) Our kind of clients!! Hopefully we can return the favor but my cooking may not be as fancy. For now, nibble on these images from their day!

Kim and Jordan Hitched: Ribault Club Wedding Fort George Island

After shooting Kim and Jordan’s NYC engagement session (scroll to previous post), we were super excited for their wedding. We are suckers for historic plantation houses so the Ribault Club was right up our alley. From the tree canopied drive, the sunlight filtering through the scattered trees on the back lawn, the surrounding marsh and the house itself, there were no shortage of beautiful photo spots. The pretty details Kim chose were also abundant such as hanging lanterns, centerpieces of blue and white blooms mixed with white pumpkins and branches, and a custom ring pillow. Kim wanted to represent her Southern roots with favors of tupelo honey jars, southern comfort foods including a grits bar and pecan pie cups, all to be enjoyed against the musical backdrop of the Atlanta Pleasure Band. With all of the dress choices in NYC, Kim chose to shop in Jacksonville purchasing her beautiful tiered organza gown from White Magnolia in San Marco. Some highlights of their day were when the bridesmaids stole a peek of their first look from the second floor window, the special reading during the ceremony by Kim’s Grandmother, and the solo “booty” dances the couple performed for each other impromptu during the reception. We hope you enjoy these images from this classy and fun wedding!

Yay, a photo of us and our clients together! Image below right is courtesy of Plumbsmile photobooths.

Jordan and Kim Engaged: New York City Engagement Session

Now that this has been featured on Utterly Engaged, I can finally post Jordan and Kim’s engagement session. Kim is from Jacksonville and the couple were wed at the Ribault Club a few weeks ago. When it came time to brainstorm ideas for their engagement session back in September, the couple decided they really wanted a piece of their home displayed at the wedding. So they flew us out to NYC to shoot their session. We had a lot of fun hanging out with these two. When we got into town, they had wine and cheese waiting for us at their Brooklyn apartment and we went to dinner at one of their favorite neighborhood haunts in Cobble Hill. We hashed out our plans, put outfits together, and got to know this sweet couple. The next day we shot on and off all day breaking for lunch and another stroll through Cobble HIll while waiting for good light. We shot at Highline Park (near where they work in Chelsea), iconic places like Grand Central Station and the Brooklyn Bridge, and finally in front of their brownstone. We loved how these turned out and we really enjoyed working with Jordan and Kim. Stay tuned for their wedding preview ;o)
